Delete transport mode
Electrical functions are deactivated in transport mode to protect the vehicle battery during transport.
The transport mode will be set during production of the vehicle and it has to be deleted before the vehicle is handed over to the customer.
Important!
In vehicles as of date of manufacture September 2007, the transport mode is indicated by the transport mode symbol in the instrument cluster. When the transport mode is deleted, the transport mode symbol disappears from the instrument cluster.
The transport mode is deleted using the service function ”Delete transport mode” in the BMW diagnosis system. In addition, this service function is also used on vehicles with air suspension to delete the end of the assembly line and transport modes in the EHC control unit (Electronic Height Control).
With the service function, the transport mode is automatically deleted in all the relevant control units. In the same testing procedure, the pre-delivery check is run after deletion of the transport mode. At the end of the program, the fault memories of all the control units fitted in the vehicle are deleted!
The transport mode can be activated in the BMW diagnosis system in the case of vehicles with a kilometre reading of less than 500.
Important!
It is only after complete execution of the testing procedure 'Delete transport mode' that the 'pre-delivery check' symbol is no longer displayed in the instrument cluster. If the testing procedure is cancelled, please restart the 'Delete transport mode' testing procedure. It is only after complete execution of the testing procedure 'Delete transport mode' that the 'pre-delivery check' symbol is deactivated in the instrument cluster.
